UNCW- Football Program

The University of North Carolina Wilmington is an outstanding academic institution, and does not need to invest in a football program. The costs of a football team would be enormous. Funding would heavily depend on donations and tuition. During this economic crisis, an investment in a football program would not be a wise decision. Not only would millions of dollars be required to establish a team, but clearing a space for a stadium would also add up. Basketball and baseball at UNCW allows students to display school spirit while having a fantastic experience. Another sport is not a necessity when it comes to UNCW. Also because of UNCW’s high academic standards, many talented football players would not be able to succeed outside of the field. UNCW offers many unique qualities already, and does not need to support a football program.
